• Writer

As a local reporter in Virginia, New Mexico and Idaho, I have delved into a wide array of beats, covering state and local politics, courts and crime, education, business, sports, agriculture, healthcare, and more. I have reported on everything from heinous domestic violence and murder to the triumphs and trials of underfunded public schools to county fairs and Rotary meetings.

  • Documentarian

As a documentary filmmaker, I’ve traveled to Ghana to collaborate with local fishers in raising thousands of dollars for a nonprofit elementary school; journeyed 365 miles down the Mississippi River in a homemade pontoon boat en route to New Orleans; explored the American West along the rugged, off-road Trans-America Trail; and uncovered some of the best fly fishing spots in rural Virginia.

  • Photographer

As a photojournalist, I’ve documented profoundly emotional moments — such as a fatal car crash, a devastating wildfire, and an armed counterprotest. As a wildlife and landscape photographer, I’ve had close encounters with elk in rut, bears on trails, moose families, mountain goats, bison herds, and birds of prey, while finding refuge in some of America’s most breathtaking landscapes.
